My name is Alek.
I am the Director of Marketing and Media at the Cache Valley Center for the Arts. I am a graduate of Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism and public relations. I also minored in computer science, music, and yoga studies.
I am passionate about all things digital (and Slurpees). Whether it's video, audio, or written articles, I love it all. My first foray into the mass media field began when I was nine years old, when I began writing, editing and publishing my own monthly newspaper, The Nelson Newspaper (creative title, I know). Shortly thereafter, I taught myself to use Windows Movie Maker and started making movies with my siblings and dog. Before graduating, I worked as the Managing Editor for The Utah Statesman, the student-run paper at Utah State University. I also worked as a staff writer and copy editor previously there. I have also interned at KSL Newsradio, where I had opportunities to produce a radio show and write articles for their website. I have experience creating content using Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office. I also have HTML, C++, Python and Java programming experience. I now work at the Cache Valley Center for the Arts, advertising nationally touring shows at a publicly-owned theatre in Logan, UT. Here, I manage social media, work with local media, write press releases, meet with donors, and keep track of and analyze relevant data to make well-informed decisions. Thanks for visiting! Alek |
